Review: My Dad moved into Legend at Mingo Road a little over four months ago. We could not be more pleased! Every professional, including the Directors, Nursing staff, Food Service, Maintenance, etc., takes their role as caregiver very seriously. The staff takes the time to build relationships of respect and trust with each of the residents. They intentionally create opportunities to get to know each individual as a person with unique and extensive experiences. My father owned a restaurant for forty years. This week, the Executive Chef invited him to participate in a cooking demonstration using one of my Dad’s recipes and then incorporating it into the lunch menu the following day. This gesture is just one example of how Legend at Mingo Road recognizes the residents as capable, purposeful community members. We are able to feel confident that at Legend at Mingo Road my Dad is not only cared for, but also cared about. We are so very thankful to have found this living center!

Review: The facility started off fabulous for my 93 old mom. HOWEVER, there was an altercation between her and her husband on July 19. No one can tell us exactly what happened and she herself had fallen that day. My mother with vascular dementia and almost blind was sent to a behavioral health, psych unit to adjust her meds and within two days she was in ICU!! All situations are not the same. She is not combative, nor a threat to herself. On July 19 she was able to live in her little apartment with very little assistance and now she is unable to walk, go to restroom and barely feed herself. It is very sad and very frustrating . All patients should be protected.

Review: My grandmother’s stay started off great and then the POA started to do some things that were questionable and not in her best interest. I tried talking to the lead nurse and she was VERY rude and dismissive. I asked her if I could please express my concerns and her reply was, “You can, but I will only talk to the POA.” I am fully aware of HIPAA, but I also believe patient care should come first and concerns should not be dismissed! My 93 year old, 73 lb, almost blind, limited mobility grandmother, whom has vascular dementia and congestive heart failure was sent to a psych unit with no visitation, and not allowed to bring anything familiar! She was essentially sent to “jail” for medicine management! This incident with her husband, probably occurred because she was in pain and was hurting. She is NOT combative, or violent!! She is not harmful to herself! She is precious and her husband was not harmed. She had fallen earlier in the day and had been given a pain pill— this could have caused her agitation. She is the sweetest lady you will ever meet! It is a shame that people with dementia apparently lose their rights, can be sent to a psych unit so quickly and family concerns are dismissed!! I would have been happy to bring her home with me!!— so in 9 days time she was moved 6 times!!!The protocol was to send to a psych unit, then within two days of being there, her BP dropped drastically and she was placed in ICU for 3 days, she recovered and sent to a regular room, my family begged for her to be allowed to come with me on hospice— and the POA sent her back to to Psych against medical recommendations and ignored family request for home with hospice!!!! 😡💔All people that were involved in this type of protocol or decision should be saddened!! To do this to an already frail 93 year old woman or any person is absolutely terrible!!! Within TEN days that decision from The Legend team removed all her hard work to become more independent, and be reunited with her husband! Now, they have to be separated! It is 💔💔💔 and absolutely cruel!!! I have no doubt her husband is just as confused. They adore each other!Where are the people that are supposed to be concerned for her care and well being, too???? I promise you with her situation— a psych unit was detrimental to her well being! And it was! I was assured by a Legend employee— my gran would be just fine, taken care of and I would be allowed to visit, as they were putting her in the ambulance.😠😠In 2 days time at BHU she ended up in ICU, no visits allowed in BHU and now she can no longer walk, incontinent and not feeding herself. She could do all those things in July 19.I completely agree that residents have to be protected, but there should be alternative options. No two situations are identical. Behavioral Health/psych unit should not be the answer for a non combative person. We have to do better with elder healthcare and not allow a POA complete power; if they are not making decisions in the best interest of that person— where is the PROTOCOL for that!!!!! My gran should still have rights! It is a heartbreaking situation, that should never happen —I tried speaking to the Nurse, and attempted to speak to director on one occasion, but both ladies quickly, and rudely dismissed me and my concern. Then, on July 19 Legend sent her out to a death sentence!!! (And a psych unit was the only option?? there are always other choices) She didn’t need a psych unit; she was given psychosis medication, antidepressants!!! Good grief!!! She didn’t even know what was happening, she was trusting she was getting good care. She is NOT crazy. She has vascular dementia!!! And it comes and goes!!!Your facility and dining are beautiful, but My sweet Gran is almost completely blind, so she isn’t privy to all the pretty and fancy dining. My gran should have been on the memory care side as well , but she was not. If she had been on memory care, this situation may have not happened.

Review: They accepted a family member without evaluation and we signed contract and they took payment information. Then they wanted to do an evaluation to make sure he qualified to stay there. He DIDNT. Legend still took the $7,000+ and denied him to stay. There was absolutely NO REFUND of any sort.We did get a small notepad 😡

Review: I currently manage a home care in Tulsa. We have interacted with Legends of Mingo on multiple occasions with shared clients. Highly recommended as a facility of choice.
